Pane e Dolci’s Caffe Zibetto changed my taste in coffee. I always loved coffee. Whether it was instant, brewed, chilled or hot, but I’d prefer instant and hot! It comes cheap, easy and fast. Girl, why would you even wonder? It’s instant! On a daily basis, coffee comes after devotional. That’s how I start my day. I love how the bittersweet taste courts my palate every time. Yep, I like it bittersweet. Just recently, I felt like I’ve cheated myself of a wonderful experience just by drinking instant coffee every day. I tried a sip from a cup of Pane e Dolci’s Caffe Zibetto, guess what??? It changed my taste for coffee.
It happened when I was headed to this not so busy 8th-21st Street in Nazareth. I found this cozy café, home to CDO’s famous Sylvannas, Pane e Dolci. Here, media peepz go to date not just to enjoy another munch of their sweet treats but to experience their rarest taste of new coffee. They launched the Café Zibetto Culture- Civet Coffee- the Pane e Dolci way. We were entertained and enlightened by their finest coffee barista, Java Bill, who carefully mentioned that Civet coffee comes from cherry beans ingested and defecated by a civet cat. Put it simply, it’s coffee out of a cat’s poop but turned into a tasteful beverage & one of the world’s most expensive coffee.
I was indeed amazed at how they prepare their coffee, from roasting to brewing. At Pane e Dolci, for only 250p, they brew civet coffee in different methods right at your own table depending on how you like it. Isn’t it cool that you get to enjoy watching the brew as you wait for your cup of coffee? At least I did. I got front row seats! What we do for the love of coffee. They brew by the use of a French Press which is commonly seen in different coffee shops. They also use a V60 filter brewer or a siphon pot. Different method gives different results. Among the three, I find the brew from the siphon pot more tasteful. It tastes bitter but not too bitter that it’ll make me gag. The mild bitterness that tickles my palate caught me and I’ve come to love it at first taste.
Sometimes, it’s nice to try letting go of some of the sweetness you’re used to and find joy in tasting coffee in its natural taste. Much like your love life. There won’t always be a man around to make your life sweet. When you learn to let go and realize you don’t need a man to sweeten up your life every single time, that’s when your eyes are opened to the wonders the world holds right before your eyes.
But, let’s get back on track here. Coffee is bitter. Let’s leave it that way, but if you can’t get over that hurdle? Girl, there’s always sugar & creamer. Bottom line, it’s really up to you how you want your blend.
As for me, Pane e Dolci’s new civet coffee not just changed my taste of coffee but gave me new standards on how my coffee should be. A doze of caffeine either to start or end your day won’t matter. What matters most is you must try Pane e Dolci’s new Caffe Zibetto culture- the civet coffee. It will change your taste for coffee. Trust me, I’m a fresh convert! 🙂
